DiDi Autonomous Driving has received a $149 million (€141 million) investment from Guangzhou Automobile Group. The investment will be made by GAC Capital Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the GAC Group.

Leveraging the funds, DiDi will boost its research and development efforts, accelerate the implementation of related products, pursue open collaborations in the industry chain, develop a sustainable and open industry ecosystem, and expedite the widespread commercial use of autonomous driving technology.

Today, the autonomous driving company operates robotaxi services in certain areas of Guangzhou and Shanghai using a mixed dispatching model, which entails a mix of both autonomous vehicles and vehicles driven by humans.
